Welcome to Markard Music. My name is Marlene Markard and I'm the Founder of Markard Music, an early childhood music education program in the Hamptons. I am a classically-trained pianist, a licensed Musikgarten teacher, a music educator with over 10 years of teaching experience, and a mom to a young son. I am currently on sabbatical in Boston, where I am completing my Graduate Certificate in Music Education and Autism at the Boston Conservatory at the Berklee College of Music. As an advocate for early childhood music education, I'm passionate about making and sharing music with others, especially children.
Studies have shown over and over that music plays a critical role in every major aspect of a child’s development - cognitive, physical, language, emotional, and social – and that the benefits of early childhood music education are profound and life-long. I believe music has the power to heal, soothe, bridge cultural divides, and facilitate communication between people, regardless of their age, level or abilities.
At Markard Music, we nurture each child’s innate musicality and lay the groundwork for music literacy starting as early as 6 months of age. We also offer private piano classes to children age 5 and older as well as adults, gifted learners, and students with special needs.
By making music an important part of our students’ lives from an early age, our goal is to instill in them a life-long love of music and to give them the tools they need to become positive, confident, and meaningful members of the world. That’s my hope for my son and it’s my hope for your children as well.
Thank you for allowing me to share this journey with your family. I look forward to seeing you in my next class!

Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything. - Plato
