Inclusive and adaptive music classes for children developmental ages 12 months to 12 years.     

Classes are held in safe, nurturing spaces in schools and at community partner sites on the East End of Long Island and Boston.  Music educator and education innovator, Marlene Markard, has created engaging curricular units and materials that are differentiated and universally designed to optimize learning, build music literacy, develop social-emotional and cognitive skills, and foster a life-long love of music.  Classroom activities are teacher- and student-directed and include:  movement, singing, instrument exploration, imaginative play, musical games, rhythm and tonal exercises, solfege, articulation, dynamics, improvisation, and ensemble activities.  More advanced students also learn about diverse musicians and artists throughout history, learning about their compositions, musical influences, and musical impact.  The five core competencies of social-emotional learning are embedded in our music curriculum.  Methods include:  Dalcroze, Kodaly, Orff, Kurwin, Gordon, and Scott.
